Magazine I Miss: Musician
I Miss It Because: In 1985 I was in a record store in a mall and spotted a magazine with Mark Knopfler on the cover. Picking it up, the other bands and artists I noticed—Tears For Fears, Walter Becker, and John Cage—I never saw anything like it before. Sure, I bought the occasional Rolling Stone, Circus, or instrumental mag like Guitar World, but this new (to me) magazine combined all the best parts of those magazines plus more.
Musician was my favorite music magazine of all time. There was never anything quite like it. Matt Resnicoff, a former Musician writer said it best: “Musician was The New Yorker of music magazines.”
